Feeling tired and fatigued?

Do you find you’re feeling tired throughout the day? Could it be that you’re having trouble switching off at the time when you most need to? So, what can we do in our everyday lives to help tackle tiredness? Berocca investigates...

Why might you be feeling tired?

With so much happening in the world right now, and greater interconnectivity keeping us informed on all the hot topics, it’s often hard to “switch off” our brains and enjoy the sleep we need.

Likewise, our energy levels may be affected by other issues besides excessive mental stimulation attributed to information overload; for example, stress, eating habits, light and sound pollution, even temperature. Identifying potential triggers and exacerbating factors of why you’re feeling more tired than usual is the first step towards successfully managing it.

Tips to feel more energised

Relieve muscle tension

Where possible, try not to engage your muscles before falling asleep. This can make your body think it needs to be awake for longer, making rest all the more difficult. Tired legs and arms mean that your body is ready to switch off for sleep. As a rule, don’t exercise up to three hours before bed; however, if you work out in the evenings, stretch adequately so that any muscle tension is released.

Keep the bedroom as a place of rest

Your bedroom should always be a place of calm, relaxing activities such as:

  • Reading
  • Listening to soothing music
  • Meditation
  • Relaxation exercises
  • Only choose activities that are low energy and will help you fall asleep faster. Avoid anything that could make it harder to doze off, like drinking coffee or late-night email catchups.

Are there any products that contain a nutrient which can help contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue?

Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue. While at work in the body, magnesium also contributes to:

  • Normal muscle function
  • Normal functioning of the nervous system
  • Turning the food we eat into energy
  • The maintenance of normal bones

The recommended magnesium intake for adults aged 19-64 is 300mg a day for men and 270mg a day for women. Your regular diet should contain all the magnesium you need!

Of course, products like Berocca Energy contain Magnesium

If you’re still tired and having trouble sleeping, be sure to visit a medical professional for a thorough examination – they should be able to advise on the best course of action for you, helping find a way to get your energy levels back up so you can stay on top form throughout the day. And all with a good night’s rest behind you...
